Rabat – Qatar’s Football Association has praised Morocco’s organizational capabilities, saying it is confident the North African country has what it takes to organize a “distinguished” 2030 World Cup.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate the news of Morocco’s winning the rights to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, the Qatari federation said it believes Morocco-hosted World Cup matches will be as impressive and enchanting as the historic performance of the Moroccan national team that “captivated the World and the Arab region” during the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed the sentiment, expressing the “full confidence of the State of Qatar in the ability of the Kingdom of Morocco and its qualifications to organize a successful edition of the event.”

Congratulating Morocco on winning the right to co-organize the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, Qatar noted that Morocco is set to be the first North African country and the second in the Arab world to welcome the most prestigious football event on its soil.

Recalling Morocco’s strong performance in the 2022 World Cup, Qatar said it hopes for the Atlas Lions to add to their football legacy and win the 2030 tournament title.

FIFA announced yesterday awarding the hosting rights of the 2030 World Cup to the Morocco-Spain-Portugal joint bid.

World football’s governing body said the Euro-African tournament will be sending a “great message of peace, tolerance, and inclusion” by uniting two continents – Africa and Europe – in celebration of football.

Besides the three official hosts, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina will host one match each in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first-ever FIFA World Cup, which was hosted in Uruguay in 1930.

“In 2030, the FIFA World Cup will unite three continents and six countries, inviting the entire world to join in the celebration of the beautiful game, the Centenary and the FIFA World Cup itself,” FIFA said in a statement.

Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Football, announced today that Morocco will dedicate six stadiums to host the 2030 World Cup matches, including those of Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, Agadir, Fez, and the soon-to-be-built Grand Stadium of Casablanca.
