Rabat – Two Syrian soldiers have been injured in a military post in Syria’s eastern Deir Ez-Zor region following an air attack by Israeli forces, according to a report from the Syrian state news agency.
The attack, which caused material damage as well, was reported to have occurred at 11:50 pm local time on Monday.
Syria’s official news agency SANA revealed that the Israeli strike targeted certain sites belonging to the Syrian armed forces in the vicinity of Deir Ez-Zor. A military source cited by SANA confirmed the injuries sustained by two soldiers, along with some material losses.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the United Kingdom, added to the account, noting that three separate explosions were reported near positions held by Iranian-backed armed groups in the region, close to the Syrian-Iraq border. These attacks were carried out by unidentified warplanes.
“Iranian militias are deployed near the targeted positions, where the members move from Iraq to Syria and vice versa through illegal routes,” the observatory stated.
It also pointed out that drones had previously launched attacks on targets within the province in early September. The primary target of the recent strike was reportedly a house suspected to contain weapons in Deir Ez-Zor City.

Israel has a history of conducting covert attacks within Syrian territory, often targeting what it claims to be Iran-linked facilities and assets.
This pattern has emerged as part of Israel’s efforts to counter Tehran’s growing influence in Syria, which has steadily increased since its support for President Bashar al-Assad during the civil war that erupted in 2011.
