Casablanca – At GITEX Africa Morocco in Marrakech on Tuesday, the BCP Group signed two cooperation agreements focused on education access for African students and the modernization of its banking technology infrastructure.

The first deal brings together the International University of Rabat (UIR) and Banque Centrale Populaire International, with the aim of making higher education in Morocco more accessible to students from across Africa.

Signed on the sidelines of the event’s fourth edition, the agreement introduces a combined support package covering academic guidance, integration services, and dedicated financing solutions.

Under the arrangement, the university will handle student reception, partial housing, tuition-related costs, and the broader student experience. BCPI, for its part, will offer study loans, financial service packages, and support for families navigating the cost of education abroad.

Othmane Tajjedine, managing director of international banking and specialized subsidiaries at BCP Group, said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to strengthen the appeal of Moroccan higher education for African students while making access to top academic pathways easier. He added that the initiative is also meant to contribute to regional socioeconomic development.

Tajjedine said BCPI was proud to roll out financial solutions tailored to the needs of families and designed to support the academic success of African students.

A second agreement, signed between Huawei Morocco and the BCP Group, shifts the focus to banking technology. The partnership centers on digital transformation and the upgrade of the group’s core platforms, with plans that include artificial intelligence solutions, intelligent storage systems, stronger cybersecurity, SD-WAN infrastructure, and cloud computing technologies.

Hassan Taher, deputy director in charge of the Supports Groupes at BCP, said the collaboration is expected to help position the banking group as a benchmark player in the digital transformation of Morocco’s banking sector. The work, he said, should improve operational efficiency while strengthening the protection of customer data.

He added that the partnership will support the rollout of innovative, smart, and resilient solutions aimed at building a more modern and high-performing bank.

Together, the two agreements deepen strategic partnerships in both education and technology. They also align with a broader approach centered on sustainable development, talent training, and innovation serving Morocco and the wider region.
