Heavy Rain, Snow, and Strong Winds Forecast Across Morocco This Weekend

Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to remain cautious and follow weather updates closely as conditions may change quickly.

Rabat – The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a level-orange weather warning for several regions across Morocco, forecasting unstable and potentially dangerous weather conditions on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the bulletin, many areas are expected to experience strong thunderstorms with hail and heavy rainfalls ranging between 30 and 40 mm.

These conditions will affect the provinces of Ouezzane, Chefchaouen, Jerada, Figuig, Guercif, Taourirt, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Boulemane, Fez, and Taza. These storms are expected from Saturday morning until Sunday morning.

The weather service also warned of snowfall starting from altitudes above 1,800 meters. Snow accumulations could reach between 10 and 20 cm in the regions of Midelt, Khenifra, Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, Boulemane, Guercif, Taza, and Sefrou.

In addition, strong winds are expected on Sunday, with speeds between 75 and 90 km/h, along with blowing dust. These winds will impact Figuig, Jerada, Taourirt, Guercif, Taza, and Boulemane from midnight until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Authorities are urging residents in affected areas to remain cautious and follow weather updates closely as conditions may change quickly.
