Rabat – The National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ) arrested on September 20 five people in Casablanca for issuing fake medical certificates that were used in cases brought before the courts. Among the accused are two doctors working in public hospitals, according to a press release from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
The press release stated that these arrests were made on the basis of precise information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the two doctors, who work in the city’s public hospitals, issued medical certificates reporting fictitious physical assaults and providing false durations of temporary absence from work (ITT), which were then used in court cases.
The certificates were issued in exchange for money.
Investigations carried out under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office led to the arrest of the first doctor, who was in the process of issuing a certificate to a civil servant in one of Casablanca’s districts.
Investigators then arrested an intermediary, a female doctor and another woman suspected of involvement in the crime.
According to the DGSN, the five defendants have been taken into police custody pending further investigation to shed more light on the case and identify other potential members or accomplices of this criminal network.
