Moroccan tennis had a big week in Cairo. Both the boys’ and girls’ U14 national teams officially booked their spots for the 2026 World Junior Tennis Finals after strong runs at the African Team Championships held in Egypt from May 4 to May 9.

The boys went all the way and finished as African champions.

After cruising through the group stage with wins over South Africa and Cameroon, Morocco defeated Egypt in the final to secure the continental title. The team showed consistency throughout the tournament and never really looked under pressure.

The squad featured Reda Dhimni, Soulaymane Jamji and Adam Smihi.

The girls came close to lifting the trophy as well. Morocco reached the final after victories against South Africa, Kenya and Botswana before eventually falling to Egypt and finishing runners-up in Africa.

The girls’ team included Dina Jaoid, Joumana El Batoul Allali and Nouha Touimy.

With those results, both Moroccan teams are now qualified for the 2026 World Junior Tennis Finals scheduled for August in Prostějov, Czech Republic.

The teams were coached by Hicham Tazi and Anas Fettar under the supervision of Zakaria Zemrani.

Morocco’s success in Cairo didn’t come out of nowhere either. Just a few weeks earlier at the African individual championships in Giza, Soulaymane Jamji won the U14 African singles title, while Dina Jaoid and Chada El Falaki took home the girls’ doubles crown.

Results like these are becoming more common for Morocco’s young players. Over the last few years, the country has quietly built one of the strongest youth tennis programs in Africa, and this latest qualification only adds to that momentum.
