Rabat – Premier League club Manchester United consider Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat their top target for this summer transfer window, football journalist Fabrizio Romano said on Monday.

“Sofyan Amrabat is the top target.” Romano said during an interview with Mark Goldbridge That’s Football YouTube channel.

He also stressed that the Moroccan superstar “has already given the green light” to the Red Devils, but that they still have to agree on the details of the contract.

“They need to discuss between the clubs because there is still no official bid between Man United and Fiorentina, so step-by-step” Fabrizio added.

The Moroccan international has received multiple offers from several top European clubs, but it would seem that only Manchester United remains in the running.

While the player’s dream move would have been to La Liga club FC Barcelona, the transfer did not work out due to financial reasons, despite the Catalan club’s interest. Atletico Madrid and Saudi club Al Ahli were also interested in the player earlier during the window.

According to Manchester Evening News, the English club is willing to offer £21 million while Fiorentina is not willing to let go of the player for less than £30 million.

Erik Ten Hag, the current manager of Manchester United, has shown a significant interest in Amrabat, seeing that they both worked with each other before in the Dutch club Utrecht Fc.

Amrabat is still under contract with Fiorentina until June 2024, but the Italian club is willing to let him go this summer.

The midfielder started attracting more attention after his notable performances with Morocco’s national team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, where he was essential in getting them to the competition’s semi-finals..
