Rabat – A total of 80,663 spectators attended Morocco’s 2026 World Cup opener against Brazil at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The large attendance created a lively atmosphere inside one of the biggest stadiums hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Moroccan and Brazilian supporters arrived in large numbers, filling the stands with flags, national colors, chants, and songs before and throughout the match.
Moroccan fans made their presence felt from the opening whistle as the Atlas Lions delivered a strong performance against the five-time world champions.
The support grew louder when Ismael Saibari gave Morocco the lead in the 21st minute, completing a quick attacking move to score the country’s first goal of the tournament.
Brazil equalized through Vinicius Junior in the 32nd minute, but Morocco continued to compete strongly and created further chances.
Neither team found a winner during the second half, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.
Near-capacity crowd
MetLife Stadium has a regular capacity of around 82,500, meaning the Morocco-Brazil match was played in front of a nearly full venue.
The stadium will host several matches during the tournament, including the 2026 World Cup final on July 19.
Saturday’s match marked the beginning of Morocco’s Group C campaign and brought together two large football communities in the New York and New Jersey area.
The draw earned Morocco one point before their remaining group matches against Scotland and Haiti.
The Atlas Lions will next face Scotland on June 19 before concluding the group stage against Haiti on June 24.
