“There’s no intimidation factor,” Nathan Saliba has said, making it clear Canada isn’t backing down from Morocco.

Speaking ahead of the knockout match between the co-hosts and the highly rated Moroccan team, Saliba stressed that Canada must stick to its identity and take an aggressive attacking approach.

“We have to play our own game, not feel fear and be aggressive from the start,” he said.

-“Morocco is a team that excels in possession and playing with the ball, so it will come down to our readiness and intelligence in how we approach the game.

Canada’s performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been solid so far, despite a humbling defeat in the group stage.  They began the group phase with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina; this was followed by a 6-0 win over Qatar, and a 1-2 loss to Switzerland.

The co-hosts finished second in their group and advanced to the knockout stage. In the Round of 32, they secured a dramatic 1,-0 victory over South Africa, with a late goal in stoppage time sending them through to the Round of 16.

Canada has recorded two wins, one draw, and one loss so far, scoring four goals and conceding three, and they remain in the tournament as they prepare for the next round against Morocco.

While the technically superior Atlas Lions are heavily favored to win the game, the plucky Canadian team will be looking for a brave display to create yet another upset in this World Cup.
