Rabat – Morocco is gaining ground in the global artificial intelligence landscape, according to the latest Economic Index published by Anthropic, which ranks the kingdom 66th worldwide for usage of its AI assistant Claude.

The report, which analyzed Claude usage across 121 countries, measures adoption relative to population size and offers a snapshot of how AI tools are increasingly shaping economies, workplaces, and education systems.

Morocco falls within the group of countries showing moderate use of the platform, placing it ahead of several regional neighbors.

In North Africa and the Middle East, Morocco ranks behind Tunisia, which placed 47th, but ahead of Algeria and Egypt, reflecting a growing appetite for generative AI tools in the kingdom.

Anthropic’s data shows that Moroccans are using Claude for a wide range of tasks, with education emerging as the strongest driver.

Schoolwork is the most frequent use case, followed by personal profile writing, front-end web development, promotional copywriting, presentation building, and early-stage entrepreneurship.

The sectoral breakdown reveals that technology-related fields dominate usage. Computer science and mathematics account for more than a quarter of all conversations in Morocco, at 25.6%, making it the country’s leading AI-driven field.

Education and library-related topics come next at 15.6%, while arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media represent 13.2%.

The findings mirror broader global patterns, where coding, creative work, and educational support continue to dominate AI interactions.

Sales and management also feature among Morocco’s top five areas of use, accounting for 7.3% and 5.4% respectively.

Globally, Australia leads the ranking, followed by Singapore and Switzerland. The data points to a widening global gap in AI adoption, with countries such as Tanzania, Mozambique, and Madagascar occupying the bottom of the list.
