Rabat – Morocco’s tourism assets continue to attract international attention, including from world-leading magazines.
The Global tourism- and travel-focused news outlet Travel Off Path has just identified the country as one of the trendiest destinations for Western tourists in 2023.
“Welcome to Morocco, the jewel in North Africa’s crown,” the tourism-focused website said, stressing that western tourists return to Morocco “en masse” to explore its cultural wealth and “attractive prices.”
Listing some of the most attractive, must-visit places in Morocco, Travel Off Path noted: “Spanish, British, Italian and American tourists are behind the growth in inbound tourism”in the North African country.
The website’s list of Moroccan cities to visit includes Marrakech, Fez, and other cities like Tangier and Casablanca.
In addition to cities, Travel Off Path mentioned the diversified, scenic tourist attractions in Morocco, including the Sahara Desert and the Atlas Mountains.
“Traveling away from the urban centers, tourists will soon learn that reducing Morocco to its arid landscapes, namely the Sahara Desert, is a gross mistake,” the tourism-focused website said, adding that Morocco is an “affordable destination” for Western tourists, compared to most other tourism markets.
The news source further quoted data from LivingCoast, stressing that locals spend $586 monthly.

But this figure could be disputed by locals, many of whom have recently expressed concerns about inflation and the unprecedented rise in the prices of food and other commodities.
Travel Off Path also acknowledged that tourist prices may be higher than the suggested data but still lower compared to the US dollar and euro.
The world-renowned travel website’s celebratory article on Morocco’s vibrant and much-coveted tourism industry comes on the heels of new data from the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which found that the North African country witnessed this year a remarkable 17% increase in tourist arrivals, compared to the first quarter of 2019.
At the end of March this year, Morocco tourism revenues reached 2.4 billion, 51% higher compared to figures from 2019.
Travel Off Path is not the first magazine to have highlighted the enduring appeal of Morocco’s tourism sector. Earlier this year,in January, Vogue Magazine featured Marrakech among the best winter sun destinations. Around the same time, The Washington Post also featured Morocco among the world’s must-visit travel destinations for the year 2023.
