Agadir – Moroccan motorists are facing higher fuel prices starting today as distributors raised diesel and gasoline prices amid renewed pressure on international oil markets.
Fuel prices at Moroccan service stations increased, with diesel prices rising by around MAD 0.69 per liter, bringing the average price to approximately MAD 13.30 per liter, according to industry data reported by local media.
Gasoline prices also saw an climbing adjustment, increasing by nearly MAD 0.38 to MAD 0.39 per liter depending on the distributor and location.
The latest increase comes after several consecutive price reductions that had brought some relief to consumers in recent weeks.
Earlier this month, Moroccan motorists benefited from lower pump prices after distributors reduced diesel prices by nearly MAD 0.96 per liter, bringing them down from around MAD 13.55 to MAD 12.61.
Gasoline prices also declined at the time, with an average reduction of around MAD 0.45 per liter, bringing prices to approximately MAD 13.84 per liter. Actual pump prices vary depending on distributors and regions.
The June and July reductions followed a retreat in international crude oil prices, particularly after a de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East reduced concerns over potential disruptions to global energy supplies.
International oil prices have recently faced renewed pressure amid geopolitical tensions and concerns over potential disruptions to global energy supplies, affecting fuel-importing countries, including Morocco.
Morocco relies heavily on imported refined petroleum products to meet domestic demand. Since the liberalization of fuel prices in 2015, pump prices have been adjusted by distributors based on international market trends, exchange rates, and other supply-related costs.
The increase is expected to add further pressure on transport costs and household budgets, as fuel prices remain a key factor influencing the cost of goods and services across the economy.
