Rabat – Manchester City have intensified their pursuit of Moroccan midfield sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi, with transfer negotiations now advancing, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The reliable sports journalist reported on Wednesday that City are in active discussions with both the 18-year-old’s representatives and his club, Lille, over a transfer package valued between €70 million and €80 million.
The Premier League club is said to be determined to secure the highly rated midfielder, who has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest young talents following his impressive performances for Lille.
According to Romano, the timing of the transfer will also depend on the future of Spanish midfielder Rodri. If Rodri remains at the Etihad Stadium, City could delay Bouaddi’s arrival until next summer. However, should Rodri depart, the club may move to complete the deal during the current transfer window.
Negotiations between all parties are ongoing, with Romano describing the deal as being “underway.”
Bouaddi has attracted interest from several European giants in recent months thanks to his maturity, technical quality, and composure in midfield despite his young age.
The Morocco youth international is widely regarded as one of the country’s most promising prospects and has already established himself as a key player for Lille.
If the transfer is completed, Bouaddi stands to become one of the most expensive sales in Lille’s history and another major Moroccan talent to join one of Europe’s top clubs.
