Manchester City have entered a new phase in their transfer strategy, combining major spending with increasingly impressive revenues from player sales.

Rabat – Manchester City have entered a new phase in their transfer strategy, combining major spending with increasingly impressive revenues from player sales.

According to AS, the English club has generated more than €300 million in transfer income this summer, with the figure expected to rise above €400 million before the window closes.

The club had already collected around €307 million, including add-ons, from several high-profile departures. Savinho’s move to Tottenham is reportedly worth €88 million plus €12 million in bonuses, while other major sales include Rodri for €60 million plus €16.5 million in add-ons, Tijjani Reijnders for €61 million and James Trafford for €47 million.

Manchester City’s transfer income has also remained consistently high in recent seasons. The club generated around €162 million in 2022-23, €139 million in 2023-24 and €152 million the following season. In 2025-26, City brought in another €107 million from player sales.

This summer’s figures therefore represent a significant jump, highlighting the club’s growing ability to generate substantial income from departures.

Departures may be worth more than €400 million

Manchester City’s revenues are expected to increase further with the reported departures of Nico González and Omar Marmoush.

González is set to join Newcastle for a fee of around €58 million, while Marmoush could move to Tottenham for a fee estimated between €50 million and €60 million.

If both deals are completed, City’s total transfer income could rise to more than €400 million, marking an unprecedented figure for the club.

The changes come as City continue to reshape the squad that won the Champions League in 2023. Several important members of that team have now left, including Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Nathan Aké and Manuel Akanji.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish also appears to be approaching the exit door, leaving Erling Haaland and Rúben Dias among the few remaining members of the 2023 Champions League-winning squad.

Despite the scale of the departures, Manchester City remain active in the market. The club have continued to spend heavily on reinforcements, showing that their strategy is no longer based solely on expensive acquisitions but also on maximizing the value of players when they leave.
