Casablanca – Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi will join Arsène Wenger, Hossam Hassan and several of Africa’s leading national team coaches at the CAF Strategy Conference in Cabo Verde next week.
According to the Confederation of African Football, Ouahbi will take part in a panel examining Africa’s performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where nine of the continent’s 10 representatives reached the knockout stages.
Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development and former Arsenal manager, will lead the discussion during the conference, which runs from October 7 to 9.
Ouahbi arrives with one of the tournament’s strongest African campaigns behind him. Morocco reached the quarter-finals, maintaining the Atlas Lions’ place among the continent’s leading international sides four years after their historic semi-final appearance in Qatar.
His contribution is expected to offer insight into Morocco’s preparation, squad management and approach to competing deep into a World Cup, with CAF using the conference to explore how national teams across the continent can build on recent progress.
The panel will also feature Egypt coach Hossam Hassan, Cabo Verde’s Bubista and DR Congo coach Sébastien Desabre.
Bubista guided Cabo Verde through a memorable tournament on their World Cup debut, while Hassan oversaw Egypt’s campaign, which included the Pharaohs’ first victory at the competition. Desabre, meanwhile, led DR Congo back onto the world stage after a 52-year absence and into the round of 32.
CAF said the wider conference will bring together coaches from all 54 African member associations, alongside former players and football stakeholders, for discussions focused on the continent’s long-term football development.
Some sessions will be broadcast on CAF TV, while technical discussions involving coaches will take place behind closed doors. CAF is expected to release the full broadcast schedule separately.
