Casablanca – A 30-year-old Moroccan man died Monday morning in Turin after falling from the fourth floor of a residential building in the Parella neighborhood while trying to reach his apartment.
The incident happened at around 10 a.m. on Via Nicola Fabrizi. Italian media reported that the man had forgotten his house keys and returned to the building, where his mother and younger brother live.
He reportedly rang the intercom, believing that his brother might be at home and could let him in. However, the younger brother was at school, while their mother was out running errands.
Unable to enter the apartment, the man then tried to reach his home through an alternative route. According to the initial reconstruction reported by Italian media, he went through a window in the building’s communal stairwell in an attempt to reach the balcony of the apartment on the fourth floor.
He appears to have lost his balance during the maneuver after placing one foot incorrectly. He then fell several meters into the building’s inner courtyard.
One Italian report said clothes-drying lines attached to balconies below partly slowed his fall, but they did not prevent the fatal impact.
Firefighters from the provincial command on Corso Regina Margherita and emergency medical teams arrived at the scene. However, there was nothing they could do to save him, and medical personnel confirmed his death.
Police officers also arrived with several patrol cars and the scientific investigation team. They carried out checks and gathered evidence at the building as investigators worked to establish the exact circumstances of the fall.
Italian media reported that police are currently treating the incident as an accidental fall, while the circumstances remain under investigation.
