Rabat – Morocco’s government decided on Thursday to extend the country’s COVID state of emergency until November 30.

The government extended the country’s state of emergency during the cabinet’s weekly council, adopting a draft decree that extends the measure throughout Morocco.

Despite the significant decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases, the government is warning that COVID-19 will continue to spread – emphasizing the importance of abiding by hygienic and social distancing measures.

The state of emergency helps Moroccan authorities put extra measures in place or ease restrictions depending on the epidemiological situation.

The North African country recorded 46 COVID-19 cases today and zero deaths. Twenty-five people were declared recovered from the virus today.

The country is currently home to only 235 active cases.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March 2020 in Morocco, the country has recorded over a million infections. While most recovered, more than 16,000 of those cases resulted in death.

People who received the first two COVID vaccine doses reached 23,409,736. Morocco is now administering third and fourth booster doses.

People who have received the third booster dose reached 6,839,977, while people who received their fourth booster shot reached 53,189.
