Rabat – Security services in Canada have launched a manhunt for two people believed to be responsible for a horrific stabbing spree that left at least 10 people dead on Sunday.

Reports said that the suspects carried out the stabbing attacks at different scenes in the indigenous communities James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon.

A BBC report indicates that the stabbing attacks are among the deadliest mass killings the North American country has seen in the past decade.

Expressing his devastation and shock at the news of such vicious crimes, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said in a statement that people responsible for the “abhorrent attacks must be fully brought to justice.”

Meanwhile, security services have warned citizens in the affected communities to remain vigilant and “not leave a secure location.”

“Use caution allowing others into your residence,” Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.

Police in the area of the crimes suspect that the perpetrators targeted some of the victims while others might have been attacked randomly.

Over the weekend, security services announced the launch of a manhunt for the primary suspects Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson, who are both on the run.

“They are considered armed and dangerous… If you see the suspects in their vehicle do not approach them, immediately leave the area and call 911,” warned Anne Lindemann, a spokesperson for the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

Police believe that there could be more injured victims than 15, the current estimation.

Canada has in recent months and years witnessed a series of similar crimes, including the grim gun rampage that took place in 2020, when a man disguised himself as a police officer and shot people in their homes, killing 22 people.

In 2019, a man used a van to kill at least 10 pedestrians. As Prime Minister Trudeau and security services continue to reassure citizens and residents, the proliferation of such horrendous crimes is causing great frustration and fear among many in the usually affected, indigenous communities.
