Rabat – Maghreb Association Sportive (MAS) has received MAD 18 million ($2 million) in exceptional financial support from local authorities after ending a 41-year wait for the Botola Pro D1 Inwi title.
The funding was announced during a ceremony held in honor of the club on Tuesday, shortly before MAS officially lifted the Botola Pro championship shield at the Fès Sports Complex.
The financial package is expected to help the club strengthen its squad and prepare for the challenges of domestic and continental football following one of the greatest seasons in its history.
MAD 18 Million to support the champions
The exceptional funding comes from three public institutions in the Fes-Meknes region:
- Fes-Meknes Regional Council: MAD 10 million
- Fes Municipal Council: MAD 5 million
- Fes Provincial Council: MAD 3 million
The combined support reflects the significance of MAS’s league triumph and the club’s growing ambitions after returning to the top of Moroccan football.
First league title in 41 years
MAS captured the 2025-26 Botola Pro title, ending more than four decades without a league championship.
The achievement marks one of the biggest success stories in recent Moroccan football and secures the club’s return to continental competition.
During the club’s celebration of its domestic triumph, Fes-Meknes’s governor, Khalid Aït Taleb, described the title as a historic accomplishment for both the club and the city.
Building for the future
He praised the players, coaching staff, club management, local authorities, and supporters, saying the championship was the result of a collective effort.
MAS president Mohammed Bouzoubaa welcomed the financial support, thanking the regional and local authorities for their commitment to the club.
He said the funding will help MAS meet its future objectives in both Moroccan football and African competitions.
The club is also preparing to celebrate its 80th anniversary, making this one of the most significant periods in its history.
