Rabat – Morocco lost another prominent artist on Saturday; the celebrated singer Fathallah Lamghari died yesterday night in a hospital in Rabat after suffering from a long illness.

Aged 82, the artist was a revered figure in Morocco’s diverse cultural and musical scene thanks to his memorable songs and lyrics.

Some of the artist’s masterpieces that continue to be an earworm to many people — particularly the generations of 70s to the 90s — are: “Allah Ala Raha,” “Faynk Al Hbib,” and many others that Moroccan celebrities continue to sing during concerts.

A prominent lyricist, Lamghari also wrote some of the most popular hits in Moroccan music, including “Maghiara” and “ Mouhal Yenssak El Bal” among many others.

Born in Fez in 1940, Lamghari is particularly revered in some circles for composing “Nidaa Al Hassan,” a much-celebrated patriotic song that highlights the social and political significance of the Green March.

Many celebrities have mourned the death of Lamghari, including the world-renowned artist Latifa Raafat.

The singer wrote a lengthy condolence and morning message on her social networks, to express sadness over losing her spiritual father.

She said that Lamghari used to show her his lyrics and songs before anyone else.

“Farewell to the creator of the immortal Moroccan songs, which I have had the honor to perform,” wrote Raafat.
