Rabat – The former first lady and US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, arrived in a pastel-blue Moroccan caftan with Moroccan embroidery and white ballet flats at the opening ceremony of the 79th annual Venice International Film Festival on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Hillary Clinton attended the festival in Venice, Italy with the Italian Minister of Culture, lawyer, and politician Dario Franceschini, for the premiere of director Noah Baumbach’s latest film “White Noise”.

This is not the first time the former first lady has dressed in traditional Moroccan attire.

In 2017, Hillary Clinton wore a Tiffany-blue caftan in New York City at the wedding ceremony of Sophie Lasry and Alexander Swieca, daughter of Moroccan-American billionaire businessman Marc Lasry.

In 2021, she also posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing a caftan with the caption “it’s caftan season.”

Moroccan Caftan is a traditional Moroccan women’s dress that is worn during ceremonies (weddings, baptisms, religious festivals). It is considered one of the world’s oldest traditional garments.
