Rabat – Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) now holds an unfortunate record for the highest number of incidents where an airline loses customer luggage in the United Kingdom.

Based on data from the UK’s Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), 12.5% of all luggage handled by the RAM was lost.

Between 2017 and 2021, the CAA received 46 lost luggage cases from UK travelers boarding RAM flights, according to a report from British tabloid The Sun.

Second on the CAA’s list of airlines that are not very good at safeguarding their customer luggage is Iberia, Spain’s national carrier.

Over the same period, Iberia lost around 8% of customer luggage, CAA data points out.

Back in 2019, RAM was featured in international headlines for allegedly losing the luggage of British royal family members, including the duke and duchess and their team of official photographers.

A member of the team of photographers tweeted that seven members of the team had no baggage upon arrival, and five of them have “gone the whole trip without them.”

The photographer went as far as to describe RAM as having “woeful service.”

Another royal photographer tweeted saying that for three days he was still waiting to receive his luggage, claiming that RAM “won’t even file a missing bag report.”

Responding to the allegations, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) released a statement blaming the delay of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s flight and the loss of their photographers’ luggage on a temporary suspension of flights that occurred in London.

RAM further claimed that the royal photographers did not register their luggage aboard the same flight.
