Rabat – The seventh edition of the “Jidar” street art festival has come to an end, leaving behind beautifully decorated building facades throughout the city of Rabat, a reflection of the artists’ creativity and imagination.

The festival took place between July 21 and 31 in Morocco’s capital city, bringing together talented artists from both Morocco and across the world.

Jidar featured Moroccan artists Ed Oner, Reda Boudina, and Tima, while the festival’s guest artists were Senegal’s Beaugraff, Canada’s Bryan Beyung, Slovenia’s Juraj Duris, Spain’s Manolo Mesa, Portugal’s Pantonio, and Japan’s Twoone.

This year’s festival produced nine new remarkable works, with the contribution of Moroccan and international street artists.

The artists’ fascinating works reflected their cultural heritage and distinct artistic style, resulting in colorful and scenic views that enriched the urban landscape of Rabat, recently designated “African capital of culture.”

The festival was also an opportunity for Moroccans, particularly street art lovers, to meet the artists and watch their work closely, creating “a space for dialogue, exchange, and openness,” the organizers said.

Launched by the EAC-L’Boulvart association, the Jidar festival aims to encourage street art among Moroccans through the “Collective Wall” concept, making a large wall available for young artists and beginners to learn street art.

Moroccan artist Ayoub Abid, known as “Normal,” headed the week-long “Collective Wall” workshop, offering amateur artists advice and guidance while discussing the theme of “Living Together.”

The festival cements Rabat’s reputation as a place of artistic expression and cultural diversity.

“The festival aims to be a celebration of street art in its entirety and its plurality of disciplines, where everyone, creator and backpacker, can find the fulfillment that suits them,” Jidar said on its official website.

Inaugurated in 2015, Jidar’s next edition is set to take place next year between May 17 and 27.
