Rabat – Eid Al-Fitr for 2022 is predicted to take place on May 2 in the United Kingdom, according to three Muslim centers.
The Green Lane Masjid & Community Center, the London Central Mosque & Islamic Cultural Center, and the East London Mosque & London Muslim Center have predicted Ramadan to last for 30 days to Sunday, May 2.
Ramadan started in the UK on April 2 as expected, but the Eid al-Fitr date is yet to be confirmed and will be officially announced after a moon sighting at the end of the month.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and a return to a regular eating schedule. Muslims often celebrate it with festive lunches and dinners, as well as giving gifts or money to children.
Muslims further give zakat al-Fitr or charity to the needy over Ramadan or even during Eid Al-Fitr.

In the UK, the London mosques, Islamic Relief, and Muslim Aid among other organizations encourage Muslims to support local or international humanitarian projects through Zakat al-Fitr.
Most of these initiatives aid refugees such as Ukrainians, and people living in conflict zones such as Palestinians.
According to the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), Islam is the second most followed religion in the UK with a large community that reached 2.79 million in 2011.
This year reflects a return to shared festivities after a two years ban due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, said Secretary-General of the MCB, Zara Mohammed on March 28 in a press release.
“British Muslims across the UK eagerly await the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan,” she added.
