Rabat – Spanish airline Binter has announced the launch of a new route linking Spain’s Canary Islands to Morocco’s Fes as part of its 2022 summer program.

The airline will operate the flight weekly – every Saturday – on an ATR 72 aircraft with a capacity of 72 passengers. The new route is scheduled from July 2 to September 17.

Details about the flight time have yet to be released.

The new air route is part of Binter’s partnership with Morocco’s National Tourism Office (ONMT) to promote the attractiveness of the North African country as a travel destination.

As part of its partership with ONMT, Binter will increase its capacity by 34,000 seats on flights to and from Morocco during the summer season.

Binter has also unveiled other flights connecting Morocco to Spain for its summer season.

The airline has scheduled bi-weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays, between Marrakech and the Portuguese Island of Madeira.

The plane will depart Marrakech-Menara airport at 5:35 p.m. and arrive in Funchal, Madeira at 8 p.m., while flights from Madeira will leave at 9:20 a.m. to land in Morocco at 11:15 a.m.

In addition to the two existing flights between Agadir and the Canary Islands, Binter’s summer program includes an additional flight connecting Gran Canaria to Marrakech and Agadir.

Another flight is scheduled between July to September, connecting Morocco to Tenerife.

On April 2, Binter launched the Gran Canaria-Guelmim route with an aim of promoting tourism activities in the southern Moroccan region.

Since Morocco lifted the travel ban on February 7, Binter resumed flights connecting the Spanish Canary islands to the Moroccan cities of Laayoune, Agadir, and Dakhla.

Morocco and Spain announced the immediate reopening of borders for passenger and goods trafficking and are preparing to initiate the 2022 Marhaba operation, a yearly program that welcomes Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) back home during the summer season.
