Ghana international and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has converted to Islam.

Photo went viral on social media depicting Partey holding the Quran with a certified marriage official in London.

A tweet from the imam stated, “Praise be to God who guides whomever wills. May God Almighty make him firm on Islam.”

Social media users circulated the photo, with fans welcoming with overwhelming applause Partey’s religious conversion.

The player has not officially announced his conversion to Islam, but photos confirmed the news.

The imam is said to be a preacher, researcher in Islamic sciences, an author and debater in the alleged contradictions between the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah.

The Arsenal midfielder joined the English club from Spain’s Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Since arriving at the Gunners, the Ghanian struggled to adjust to the Premier League due to injuries that forced him to miss playing time.

Yet, Partey is currently having a good season at the Emirates Stadium in North London. For the first time, his outstanding performances in recent months earned him the Arsenal Player of the Month award for February.

On Sunday, he put in an outstanding performance for the Gunners in their 2-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City.

Partey is currently preparing to join the Ghana national team in the playoffs stage of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria, played over two-legs on March 25 and 29.

The news of Partey’s conversion to Islam comes shortly after former Dutch football and AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf announced his conversion to Islam.

The news of Partey and Seedorf’s conversion comes one month before the start of the holy month of Ramadan for the Islamic year 1443.

Football fans in the Arab and Islamic world received the news warmly.
