Rabat – The General Directorate of Meteorology  (DMN) is expecting rainfall to continue until Friday in several provinces across Morocco.

In Wednesday’s weather alert, the DMN forecasts heavy rainfall ranging between 30 and 70 millimeters on Thursday and Friday in several provinces.

Rainfall is expected from the morning today, until Friday 11 p.m. in the provinces of Berkane, Oujda-Angad, Jerada, Taourirt, and Nador.

The rainfall is also affecting other regions across Morocco, including Rabat-Sale Kenitra and surrounding regions.

DMN issued a series of weather alerts this week. Farmers and citizens regained hope following the return of rainy weather amid a season that was marked by drought and lack of rainfall.

Amid repercussions due to lack of rainfall, many farmers expressed their concerns and have reported crop losses.

To mitigate the pressure on domestic farmers, the Moroccan government launched an exceptional program to help farmers amid the crisis.

The $1 billion fund  includes more than $320  million to assist affected farmers and livestock breeders.

Meanwhile, over $640 million in support aims to finance and restructure the debts of farmers, particularly young farmers who turn to loans on a seasonal basis to finance their agricultural projects.

The government allocated more than  $106 million to finance affected agriculture activities, including the livestock sector by providing fodder at reasonable prices as well as financing medicines to breeders.
