Chain of ice cream coffee shops Café Dupont is targeting the Moroccan ice cream market, where 70-year old and most famous company Oliveri, founded in Casablanca, is the leader followed by its main competitor, Venizia Ice.
Promoter Chocomall company announced earlier this week that through Cafe Dupont, it is setting up a chain of ice cream cafes in major cities across Morocco. Its objective is to open around ten points of sales by 2022, mainly in Casablanca to compete in this niche market with Oliveri and Venezia Ice.
Chocomall hasn’t revealed how much it will invest for its future development but some sources say that it is around MAD 40 million ($4.33 million) . So far, the company has already committed MAD 20 million ($2.166 million) for its Moroccan venture.
Olivery has more than fifteen cafes across the country and Venezia Ice around thirty points of sale, some being franchises. As it sets its sights on making the most of the Moroccan ice cream market, Cafe Dupont will have to compete with these two companies that have led the market in the past decades.
