Rabat – Tangier Med Group, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and the 42 Network are set to open the third “1337 School” campus in January 2022 in Tetouan Shore, near Cabo Negro, northern Morocco.
After the success of the two 1337 schools in Khouribga and Benguerir that opened in 2018 and 2019 respectively, the third campus is located one hour from Tangier. The new campus is built over an area of 2,000m² with different spaces that are designed in accordance with the two previous campuses.
Located at the center of an industrial ecosystem with a strong digital focus, the 1337 school’s new campus aims to train around 650 new students for the upcoming year.
The new 1337 School offers collaborative, modular spaces imbued with ‘geek’ culture in addition to 12,000m² of sports infrastructure, said the Tanger Med group in a statement.
The campus will house three clusters of more than 730m², equipped with 210 latest generation iMAC computers and extra-large capacity storage servers.
The new campus has many student-friendly facilities, such as two relaxation areas with pool tables, ping pong, and several other games to entertain students and descreen them for a time.
The coding school has also a meet-up area open for students and guests to discuss and debate innovative topics. It is also a zone where students can pitch their startup ideas and organize workshops and training sessions.
Tangier Med, with the technical and pedagogical support of UM6P, is deploying the tuition-free 24/7 training school in computer development and coding, accessible to all, without prerequisites of a diploma or knowledge in computer science, the statement noted.
The 1337 school uses an innovative educational vision of peer learning, a strategy that encourages students learning together with a focus on completing projects rather than attending classes, allowing students to more freely express their creativity and excel in computer science.
“Students are given the opportunity to progress at their own pace in an autonomous way,” the statement added.
Tangier Med Group will offer student scholarships covering accommodation costs to boost the local economy.
With no attendance fees, widespread accessibility, and top-ranked training, 1337 School in Khouribga, Ben Geurir, and Tetouan innovatively aims to offer a perspective of development and create tomorrow’s jobs for Moroccan and African youth.
