Fez – While Lionel Messi may no longer be able to play for Barcelona, the ex-Barcelona and Argentinian football star dreams of returning to the Spanish club to offer his help and services off the pitch.
Messi said in a recent interview that he would very much like to return to Barcelona with his family to work as a technical director for the LaLiga team when his contract with Paris St. Germain expires.
“What is almost confirmed is that we are going to live in Barcelona,” Spanish outlet Sport quoted Messi as saying. “It’s what my wife wants and what I want.”
Messi signed a two-year free transfer deal with PSG this summer, terminating a two-decade spell at Barcelona, where he is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 672 goals.
The deal took the football world by storm; the 34-year-old Argentine had been the face of Barcelona for nearly two decades, and many expected him to stay longer at the Spanish club.
“I feel very sad now as I have to leave a club that I love. I did not expect this,” Messi said in his goodbye speech after announcing he was leaving Barcelona. “I always told the truth. Last year I wanted to leave, this year I did not want to leave.”
Barcelona has been unrecognizable since Messi’s exit, barely winning matches and lacking the quality and constant goal threat that the Argentine provided.
