Rabat- Crowds gathered on Sunday October 17  to watch the first days of recording for the 5th edition of the famous Indiana Jones saga. Filming commenced in the Mellah and Bab Semmarine districts in Fez, featuring the typical sets of the film about Hollywood’s most famous archaeologist.

In addition to filming scenes of the first day of “Indiana Jones 5” in Fez, shops in the Mellah were closed to make way for old cars and camels and to furnish the main street with decorations reflecting scenes from the sixties.

Filming for the latest opus in the iconic saga began in London on June 7 and will continue in Fez and Oujda.

The filming in Morocco started on October 17 and will continue until the beginning of December 2021.

Moroccan producer Zakaria Alaoui and his company Zak Productions is in charge of filming in Morocco.

The Moroccan Film Center (CCM) announced earlier this year that the fifth Indiana Jones installment will be filmed in Morocco this summer.

Morocco commonly hosts major Hollywood productions.  The kingdom is one of the favourite locations for filmmakers to shoot. Indiana Jones is now added to the long list of major feature films shot in the country, alongside James Bond, Mission Impossible, Inception and American Sniper.

“The success of Morocco and its attractiveness as that large filming space are due, on the one hand, to the multiple decorations offered by our country, in its exceptional light, the experience and the qualification of its technical teams, and, on the other hand, the measures taken Since 2017 by the Moroccan cinematic center as well as the benefits granted to foreign producers,” The Moroccan Film Center (CCM) noted in a previous statement.
