Rabat- Morocco’s southern region, Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab, is scheduled to host the 11th annual “Prince Moulay El Hassan GKA Kite-Surf World Tour Dakhla 2021” from October 27 to 31.
The event, which is being held under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, in collaboration with “Lagoon Dakhla Sport and Cultural Animation” and the Global Kitesports Association (GKA) has become an essential part of the kite surfing community and will boost the participation of the best kitesurfers from across the world.
As part of the international circuit, the World Sailing Federation (WSF) and the Moroccan Federation of Sailing (FRMV) are collaborating to organize the kitesurfing world cup, which determines the sport’s “rider of the year” in the freestyle and strapless category.
In the past 11 years, the kitesurfing competition witnessed the participation of over 600 kitesurfers across 40 countries and has attracted more than 190 media outlets, both locally and internationally, to cover the event and witness Dhakla’s beautiful landscapes.
Two Moroccan kitesurfers will be participating in the competition: Moumim Maji and Med Ali Beqqali.
Morocco’s objective is to take advantage of the opportunity to boost the regional popularity and position itself as “safe” from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, having been the least affected area in the North African country.
Dakhla’s beaches are renowned for being among the most beautiful in the world, as well as being a destination for kite- and windsurfing enthusiasts around the world.
Dakhla’s Kitesurfing World Cup was created with values of citizenship and ecological responsibility in mind. There are also several sport activities related to raising environmental awareness on ecological issues, especially for children,
Prior to the competition, a special day will be dedicated to garbage collection at the location of the event.
There will be no admission fee for this event, providing a convivial atmosphere with an outstanding show.
