Rabat- Israel officially appointed its charge d’affaires in Rabat, David Govrin, as its ambassador to Morocco.
Yair Lapid, Israel’s foreign minister, visited Morocco earlier this year, promising to increase the level of representation in the North African country.
Govrin announced the news on Twitter on Sunday, expressing his gratitude to his followers and friends on social media.
“I have the honor to share with my followers and friends from all over the world the news of my appointment as the official ambassador of the State of Israel in Morocco,” he said.
The diplomat expressed his appreciation to all of his partners in Morocco and abroad for their efforts to establish peace and security.
“We will continue our work towards developing joint relations for the benefit of the two brotherly countries,” he added.
Govrin arrived in Morocco as a charge d’affaires of Israel earlier this year, following the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv in December 2020.
Under the rapprochement, Morocco and Israel intend to develop and advance their partnership in various areas, including trade, tourism, and technology, among others.
Govrin, an active user of social media, pledged to facilitate a strong collaboration between the two nations.
The diplomat also repeatedly expressed his pride in being a part of the Israeli mission in Morocco.
One of his latest tweets was to celebrate the appointment of the new government in Morocco.
“I am pleased to congratulate the members of the new government under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and wish them success in their duties to face the country’s economic and social challenges,” the ambassador said.
