Rabat – King Mohammed VI has addressed a condolence and compassion message to Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarek bin Taimur following fatalities and damages caused by Tropical Cyclone Shaheen.

In his message to the Omani Sultan, the Moroccan monarch expressed his and the Moroccan people’s deep condolences and sincere feelings of compassion to a distressed brotherly country.

The monarch also expressed sympathy and “absolute” solidarity with Oman as the country navigates the painful aftermath of a natural disaster.

The death toll due to the Cyclone Shaheen that crashed through Oman rose to 14 as of Thursday.

Cyclone Shaheen came with overwhelming flooding that caused devastating damage across Oman. The Omani government has so far announced that 12 people have died in the country, while Iranian authorities have also found the bodies of two fishermen believed to have been killed in the storm.

The cyclone caused a disastrous landfall in Oman on Sunday last week, and searches are still ongoing to identify further victims.

Videos and photos have gone viral of scary flooding hitting Oman and Iran and causing human and property damages.
