Rabat – A total of 263,550 Moroccans are registered with the Spanish social security system by August.

Data from the Spanish Ministry of Integration emphasized that Moroccans maintained their position as the largest foreign group contributing to social security in Spain.

The second-largest non-EU community registered for social security in Spain is from China (104,339).

From the EU, Italians are among the top people with social security in Spain, accounting for 140,747 Italians in total.

The total number of foreigners affiliated with Spain’s social security is estimated at 2,204,054 in August.

The number represents an increase of 43,822 people.

As of August, foreign contributors made up 2,220,097 of the average affiliation. Over 780,349, or 35.15%  of this number originate from the EU.

Over 1,439,748 people come from third countries (64,85%). 

According to the data, foreign affiliations decreased by 6,488 employees compared to July (0.29%).

The sectors where foreign employees are most significantly represented are “household activities,” with 6.04%, Hospitality (3.11%), Health Activities (3.10%), Administrative activities and auxiliary services (1.72%), and supply of Water and Sanitation activities (1.48%).

Compared to the previous year, the number of foreign workers in the education, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, and construction sectors experienced a decline.

The data show that the number of foreigners in the self-employment sectors also registered a slight decrease of 0.03% in July.
