Denver – Morocco’s students on Saturday and Sunday took part in a tech event hosted to promote “social entrepreneurship.”
Known as a “#Eduhack,” the two-day event was organized in coordination with the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) and held in the Marrakech-Safi region. It brought together some of the best and brightest young Moroccan minds, with the goal of bringing the top five project ideas into full development.
Youssef Charqroun, Enactus Morocco’s regional director for the Marrakech-Safi region, stated the NGO had “consulted widely” with stakeholders of major institutions, including the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) and the Regional Academy of Education and Training (AREF), to support the students who participated in its event.
The two-day program granted the participating students the opportunity to train with entrepreneurial mentors and listen to testimonials from successful business owners throughout the country.
According to INDH, the ultimate objective of the event was the “improvement and economic inclusion of young people,” and the program mainly sought to promote business development in students between the ages of 18-35.
Originally founded in the US in 1975, Enactus is based in the state of Missouri, and seeks to develop partnerships between businesses and university students. Over the past 46 years, the NGO has expanded to several other countries with the same objective.
Enactus has been operational in Morocco since 2003, helping over 20,000 students in the country develop personal and entrepreneurial skills. The NGO hosts an average of 200 projects annually in Morocco to help develop the next generation of Moroccan entrepreneurs.
