Rabat – The Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat was inaugurated on Thursday, August 12, by the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yair Lapid, currently on an official visit to Morocco.

The opening of the Israeli representation in Morocco is an implementation of the tripartite joint declaration agreement that Morocco, the US, and Israel signed last December, 2020.

Lapid met with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita on Wednesday in Rabat.

A series of bilateral and regional issues of common interest were discussed, such as trade, counter terrorism and tourism.

The two officials signed three agreements on this occasion, strengthening bilateral cooperation in the political, cultural, youth and sports, and air services.

“The agreements that we will sign will bring our countries innovation and opportunities for the benefit of our children – and their children – for years to come,” Lapid said.

Yair Lapid is visiting Morocco, heading a delegation including the Minister of Labor, Meir Cohen and the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense in the Knesset (Israeli parliament), Ram Ben Barak.

The trilateral accords from December have since resulted in a number of bilateral Moroccan-Israeli relations to reconcile and strengthen the broken ties.

Many direct commercial flights have been launched linking Tel Aviv to Moroccan cities such as Marrakesh and Casablanca.
