Rabat – The Paris Men’s Fashion week is set to take place in-person after a mostly digital Fall-Winter 2021 New York Fashion Week. Moroccan label “Casablanca” is listed as one of the 72 names set to appear at the show.

“Casablanca” is one out of the six brands planning to host in-person shows during the Men’s Fashion week. There will be a large number of online-only presentations to take place during the week to help curb any possible COVID-19 infections, the show’s organizers said.

The French-Moroccan brand “Casablanca,” founded by designer Charaf Tajer, plans to host a physical invite only show on Saturday, June 26, 2021 complemented by a digital presentation.

The brand is known for its bold prints, sporty yet relaxed silhouettes presented in cotton and terry cloth material while embodying an aesthetic that fuses between luxury and leisurewear.

“At Casablanca we do a bit of everything. There are tuxedos, silk shirts, suits, but there are also pyjamas and t-shirts. You’d be surprised to see the amount of young people, guys and girls, wearing our clothes. But you know, I’m not interested in doing things that have totally been done before,” said Charaf Tajer in an interview for The Love Magazine.

“I come from streetwear, so I do it differently because I understand its codes. But I also understand the high-end prêt-a-porter vocabulary of style. Overall, I think we’re going back to chic because there’s been a lot of sneakers and the market is saturated.”

Still freshly new, the emerging brand launched in June 2018 and was named after the city where Tajer’s parents met. “Casablanca” later made its debut runaway appearance during the Paris Men’s Fashion Week in 2018 and has since garnered the attention of many influential people inside and outside the fashion industry, including Donatella Versace.

Besides featuring in a number of fashion shows, “Casablanca” has been announced as a finalist to win the ANDAM  award, geared towards helping young designers in their structuring and development within the fashion industry by offering financial and logistic support.

Tajer’s label is up against a number of designers from around the world. Winners are expected to be announced on July 1, 2021.

The 2021 Paris Men’s Fashion Show Week begins on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 and ends on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Other brands that will be participating alongside Casablanca include Louis Vuittin, Dior Homme, and Dunhill.
