Rabat – The government has recently signed contracts to claim more than 1000 plots of agricultural land between Al Hoceima and Taza to construct an expressway between the two cities, the Ministry of Transport and Equipment has announced.

The Minister of Transport and Equipment, Abdelkader Amara, signed two contracts to expropriate the agricultural land, which are located between the provinces of Al Hoceima and Taza.

The construction of the expressway linking Taza to Al Hoceima is component of a project launched in September 2015, as part of the development program “Al Hoceima Manarat Al Moutawasit.”

Published in the official gazette on September 20, 2017, these decisions for expropriation for public utility concern about 536 plots of land in Al Hoceima and nearly 500 others in the region of Taza.

The building of the expressway requires a budget of MAD 3.3 billion. The road, which is 130 kilometers long, will link Al Hoceima to the Oujda Agadir highway and reduce traveling between Al Hoceima and Taza from three hours to two.
