Atiq Rehman

Atiq Rehman, MD, MBA, FACS, is a cardiac surgeon with 25 years of experience and specific interest in artificial intelligence in healthcare. He serves as Chief Medical Officer of AiraMed Group, an AI health technology company. A graduate of Aga Khan University, he completed his surgical training in the United States and earned an MBA from George Washington University. As a U.S. and international proctor for Edwards Lifesciences, he helped establish and train approximately 100 transcatheter heart valve programs across North America and internationally. He has also completed executive education at Harvard, MIT, Cornell, and Johns Hopkins, including Harvard Medical School's program in AI in Healthcare.

Dr. Rehman's work focuses on the safe integration of artificial intelligence into medicine, including AI-assisted clinical decision support, cardiovascular risk prediction, and digital twins for structural heart interventions. He developed the Universal Cardiac Surgical Risk Score (UCSRS), chaired the AI session at Beijing Valve 2026, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. Through his research and writing, he examines how artificial intelligence is reshaping healthcare, with particular emphasis on clinician deskilling, AI governance, patient safety, and the future of medical education.
