Rabat – As part of International Women’s Day, the world is honoring influential women throughout March who shined in several domains and made significant social, economic, cultural, and political achievements.

Imane Trari serves as a great example, with her professional career offering an inspiring story for young Moroccan women to embark on their journey toward success.

The first step in her professional career was in 2010 as a journalist at the French financial newspaper Les Echos. Trari, who was a member of the newspaper’s weekly edition team, wrote about major economic issues, including economic and corporate policy, EU Economic Relations, as well as agriculture, and agribusiness.

Trari later joined the Moroccan news outlet Challenge.ma, specializing in economic news. Agriculture, tourism, pharmacy, and tobacco were among the industries she wrote about and reported on.

In 2013, she joined La Vie Economique outlet, with whom she further explored her interest in reporting about the tobacco industry. As a journalist in the outlet’s economy section, she wrote about a wide range of related topics, including large-scale distribution, telecommunication, agriculture, and tobacco.

Her career took a different turn later on in the same year, as she joined Morocco’s flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) as a Manager of external communication and Parliament Relationships.

Trari’s position included a wide range of responsibilities, including managing the company’s relations in Morocco and Africa, as well as its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs and sponsorship.

After working with RAM for around 18 months, Trari went back to her niche, journalism. She joined La Vie Eco as the head of the economy section, managing a team of journalists, as well as designing and producing editorial content.

In 2017, Trari joined American multinational tobacco company Philip Morris International (PMI) as a Corporate Affairs Supervisor, an opportunity for the hard-working young woman to explore her interest in the industry.

Headquartered in Connecticut, US, PMI’s mission is to deliver a “smoke-free future” by replacing cigarettes with smoke-free products. While PMI’s products are not risk-free, the company claims they are a “better alternative than cigarette smoking.”

Two years later after joining PMI, Trari assumed the role of an external affairs supervisor for the Maghreb region at the same company, before becoming PMI’s communication manager for the Maghreb region.

Trari constantly celebrates the achievements of the American company, stressing her sense of pride to be part of the “Philip Morris Maghreb family.”

“As Philip Morris Maghreb, we continue to make history by obtaining the Top Employer certificate for 7 years in a row … This is our pride!” Trari said on LinkedIn. She extended her thanks to the Philip Morris Maghreb family, “with whom we have made a successful journey together.”

In addition, she celebrated PMI’s commitment and dedication to ensuring inclusion and diversity within the company. “That’s why I’m proud to be PMI,” Trari emphasized.

PMI, whose products are sold in 180 countries worldwide, believes that the company will become a “majority smoke-free company in 2025.”
