Rabat – A nurse working in a vaccination center located in Bab Taghazout, Marrakech, was arrested on November 8 for falsifying official documents and manipulating vaccination data to register people despite not receiving their COVID-19 vaccine.
The nurse pretended to inject vaccines to people who refused to be vaccinated, yet needed to obtain the vaccination pass as it became mandatory to access public and private spaces.
The suspect invited them to join him at the vaccination center where he worked and ensured that the “patients” filled all the necessary administrative formalities. He then pretended to inject the vaccine by letting the liquid run down their arms.
The nurse later registered their data in the computer system so that they could receive their vaccination pass.
According to a Moroccan newspaper, a number of citizens present at Bab Taghazout center witnessed the odd scene and spread the information until it reached authorities who quickly started to investigate the case.
The suspect was arrested last Friday and taken into custody, a measure that was extended until Monday, November 8 for further investigation of the case.
The nurse was taken to the King’s prosecutor who charged him with trafficking in vaccines and falsifying official documents, before being brought to the investigating judge.
The investigation aims to identify the suspect’s clients who did not receive their proper vaccination.
Thousands of Moroccans staged protests in several cities across the country in response to the government’s introduction of a vaccine pass mandate.
Many said they will not bow to compulsory vaccination.
When announcing its decision to implement the vaccine pass on October 18, the Moroccan government explained that the pass is intended to further contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
Despite the ongoing protests and citizens opposing the decision, the government has expressed its satisfaction with increasing vaccination numbers since the introduction of the vaccine pass.
Moroccan health authorities managed to vaccinate 1,333,251 citizens with various doses – first, second, or third, in the week following the introduction of the vaccine passport mandate.
