Rabat – The European Union and Morocco announced on Monday in Brussels the launch of discussions to develop two agreements for facilitating the ability of Moroccans to obtain visas for entering European Union countries, and for future readmission to those countries.

Morocco and the EU have had a Partnership of Mobility in place since June 7, 2013, to promote collaboration between Morocco and the EU in managing migration in a comprehensive, balanced, pragmatic and operational way, according to a news release issued by the delegation of EU to Morocco.

“The Partnership covers all issues related to migration, including responsible and humane management of irregular migration, facilitating mobility of Moroccan citizens, improving the recognition of professional qualifications and cooperation between employment services, supporting members of the Moroccan diaspora in Europe who want to invest in Morocco, and cooperation in the field of trafficking in human beings,” according to the news release.

The two agreements, one to facilitate mobility and the other to regulate future readmission, come in the context of several cooperation and partnership projects signed by Morocco and the EU 18 months ago, which aim at achieving mutual benefits for both partners.
