Rabat – Saudi Arabia’s Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal has allegedly announced his intention to pay a seven-day visit to Israel in order to “mark the new age of peace and fraternity” in the Middle East, Saudi media outlets reported.

Prince Al-waleed Bin Talal has made headlines worldwide as he announced on Thursday his plan to embark on a seven-day visit to Israel and pray in the Al-Aqsa Mosque, located on top of Temple Mount when he visits the old city of Jerusalem. The mosque is known as the third holiest site in Islam.

According to Israeli’s Jssnews, the Saudi Prince said that he was instructed by King Salman of Saudi Arabia, to hold talks with the Israelis in order to establish friendly relations with the Jewish nation.

He reportedly emphasized on developing a rising military and intelligence co-operation with Tel Aviv.

Prince Bin Talal, however, did not specify  when the visit is due to take place.

Multiple Saudi media reports said that Prince Bin Talalcalled upon all the Arab Nation’s leaders to put an end to their “acrimonious stance toward the Jewish nation and instead continue to strive for a more peaceful, prosperous and homogenous Middle-East.”

Saudi Arabia’s Daily Okaz newspaper quoted Prince Bin Talal saying that “it should become a moral imperative for all inhabitants of war-torn Middle-East, namely Arabs, to desist their absurd hostility toward the Jewish people.”

“My sovereign, King Salman has instructed me to open a direct dialogue with Israelto build amicable ties with our Israeli neighbors,” Okaz quoted Prince Bin Talal as saying.

Saudi Arabia and Israel are considered to be historic enemies. Saudi Arabia has thus far not recognized the right of Israel to exist.

US Bloomberg revealed earlier this year that Israeli and Saudi Arabian officials have held five secret meetings in 2014.

According to the same source, the secret meetings discussed the common threat the Islamic Republic posed to the region.

If the Saudi government confirmsthe veracity of these media reports, Prince Al-waleed’s visit to Israel will be a historic event and a major turning point in relations between Israel, Saudi Arabia.
