Rabat – Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch has reiterated Morocco’s support for the stability, unity, and sovereignty of Yemen during his recent meeting with Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs Shayea Mohsen Al-Zindani.

Akhannouch held the meeting with his Yemeni guest in Rabat on Thursday, expressing Morocco’s appreciation for Yemen‘s position in support of  Moroccan territorial integrity.

Yemen supports Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against the separatist claims that the Algeria regime has long supported by backing the Polisario Front, a group claiming independence in southern Morocco.

According to Al-Zindani, today’s meeting served as an opportunity to discuss the developments of the situation in Yemen and to review different issues of mutual interest.

The two countries further discussed strengthening cooperation and discussing ways to enhance economic relations and encourage initiatives from private operators. The visit also seeks to serve as an opportunity to sign several agreements, covering different sectors.

Morocco and Yemen frequently emphasize their determination to bolster bilateral ties and solidify their relations across various sectors.

The two countries renewed the same commitment during the 15th Islamic Summit Conference, held last year in May.

On the sidelines of the summit, the two countries held discussions, where Morocco also renewed its principled policy of rejecting external interferences in Yemeni affairs.

Yemen has been facing crises, including severe humanitarian challenges. It has also grappled with political instability due to clashes and challenges between the government and Houthi rebels.
