Rabat – According to the Doha-based Al Jazeera Arabic, Egyptian soldiers shot a mentally-impaired Palestinian man as he crossed the western sea border in the city of Rafah at the Gaza Strip-Egypt borderline.

A video aired by Al Jazeera Arabic on Friday shows the 28-year-old Palestinian man crossing the border naked. As soon as he finished crossing the fence separating the Gaza Strip from Egypt, he was shot dead by Egyptian soldiers.

The victim was shot without previous warning from Egyptian soldiers, according to the same source.

The video shows the young man walking for a few meters before he was fired at by Egyptian forces.

According to the Al Jazeera report, Palestinian guards yelled at the Egyptian soldiers and warned them that the man was suffering from mental and psychological problems, but their attempt to save him failed.

The Egyptian troops kept shooting at the Palestinian man until he dropped dead.

The video, which has been posted on Al Jazeera’s official Facebook page is going viral, with several thousand comments denouncing the “crime” perpetrated by Egyptian forces against a defenseless person.
