Rabat – Five other people, including international drug lords, were arrested as part of investigations conducted by Moroccan authorities following the seizure of about 6 tons of cannabis resin, according to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
Investigations also led to the seizure of a gun, 13 cartridges and two tasers, the Central Bureau for Judiciary Investigations (BCIJ) said in a statement.
Investigations are ongoing under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to shed light on the ring’s activities and identify other accomplices, BCIJ added.
A trafficking operation of 6 tons and 370 kg of cannabis was foiled by BCIJ, following the smashing of an international criminal ring operating between Morocco and Europe.
The drug was carefully hidden in a cargo of frozen fish meant to be exported onboard a truck, BCIJ said on Sunday.
The network’s mastermind and six other people were arrested, it said.
