Rabat – Raja Sporting Director, Rogerio Matias, said in an interview with the Portuguese newspaper Record that “Raja Casablanca is a huge club, with a massive fan base, passionate and devoted to their club”.
Matias acknowledged the club’s history and position in Morocco and Africa, while also highlighting its popularity, with millions of followers across various social media platforms.
Mathis added that his goal is to turn Raja into a club that is capable of competing for and winning titles while managing it according to the model adopted by major European clubs. He noted that Raja’s status as the first Moroccan club to become a joint-stock company requires a new approach to organization and management.
To support Moroccan talent, Matias emphasized the importance of developing training systems, identifying young players at an early age, and providing them with suitable conditions that will enable them to reach the first team.
He continued: “If we want to make a comparison with Portugal, we are talking about a club the size of Benfica, Sporting or Porto. It is a club that lives to win titles.”
The Raja sporting director said that if the project comes to fruition, the club could become the biggest exporter of talents in Africa and an important source of players for the Moroccan national team, which is the long-term goal of his ambitious project. Meanwhile, the immediate goal is to lift the Botola trophy with Raja this season.
