Agadir – Moroccan security authorities arrested a 20-year-old French national of Algerian origin at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca today, after French authorities issued an international arrest warrant against him.
The National Security officers arrested the suspect this morning, according to Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
A check of the suspect’s details against the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) database confirmed that French authorities were seeking him internationally.
The National Central Bureau in Paris issued an international alert over the suspect’s alleged involvement in a case involving drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.
Following the arrest, the competent public prosecutor’s office ordered extradition procedures against the suspect.
The National Central Bureau of Interpol-Rabat, which operates under the DGSN, also notified its French counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition process.
The case reflects ongoing security cooperation between Morocco and France in addressing cross-border crime.
Moroccan security authorities regularly coordinate with their international counterparts to locate and arrest individuals wanted in other countries, particularly in cases involving transnational criminal activity.
