The recently undertaken constitutional reforms will boost Morocco’s image in the world as a developed, open and modern country, President of the Latin American and Caribbean Group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Carlos Jiménez Macias, said on Tuesday in Rabat.
Morocco stands as “a positive example in the Arab region”, Jiménez Macias said during a meeting with Lower House Speaker Abdelwahed Radi.
Jiménez Macias said that his visit to Tangier and Casablanca enabled him to witness the progress achieved in Morocco, notably in terms of infrastructure.
He also reiterated the stand of the Latin American and Caribbean Group in support of Morocco’s candidacy to assume the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the upcoming elections, due in October in Switzerland.
The meeting was also an opportunity to shed light on the main provisions of the new constitution, which was adopted by a landslide majority following a referendum on July 1.
